I started to write this post yesterday (9/1) but got sidetracked by the higher priority of preparing for our cruise getaway. Today I'll get back to the Edmonds corner gardens.
But first, let me bring you up to date on our travel adventure.
Haven't heard anything about more restrictions on travel by Greece or Italy, so as far as I can find out, our negative Covid19 test, fully vaccinated status, and the Passenger Locator Form remain the only qualifications there. Well, that is, besides bringing money to spend on the local economy.
I've already mentioned the Heathrow requirements; a negative test within 72 hours of arrival and a Passenger Locator Form, in this case, filed no earlier than 48 hours prior to landing. I'll get to that later this morning.
Around noon yesterday, British Airways sent a "Travel Document" for each of us, listing our outbound flights. This is something new in my experience and may be related to Covid, but it's all very interesting.
Time break here... I've spent the past five hours filling out forms, scanning virus test results and vaccination cards, etc. This has been my most time-consuming travel adventure.
I filled out the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) for Greece a couple days ago but I couldn't submit it until the airline seat numbers were filled in. Catch 22, seat numbers for the leg from Heathrow to Athens weren't available until 24 hours prior to arrival in Heathrow.
The PLF for England was even more time consuming. Need one for each of us and they couldn't be filled out until 48 hours before arrival in Heathrow. Got started on it yesterday, but needed seat numbers again for that second leg so finally was able to get serious about completing them this afternoon. Had to upload our vaccination cards, negative Covid tests plus had to scan and upload a copy of our Greece PLF. Of course there were all the personal info data points such as PP numbers and expiration date, DOB, home address, temporary address, and what I had for dinner last night. Well, not the last one, but plenty of personal information.
The Greece PLF incorporated info for both of us onto one form while the one for GB required separate forms for each of us. A little while ago I got two emails from British Airways saying that they are now verifying our COVID-19 travel documents. They gave each of us a tracking number and said we would get confirmation emails when they verify our documents. When we get those emails, "you're free to check in for your flight." A scary little note says, "If we haven't let you know that your documents have been approved, please go to the airport and check in." I'm not sure that means the docs are not required or if we will need to spend more time jumping rope at the airport. I'm taking paper copies of everything just in case.
Enough worrying about tomorrow's flights. We'll head to SEATAC around 1400 and go through the drill there.
Meanwhile, back to those Edmonds corner gardens.
9/2/21 0815 (Ran out of time last night so will finish this morning.)
The City of Edmonds Parks Department maintains 68 corner gardens and 141 hanging baskets in the downtown area. On a recent walk, I took some photos of the corner gardens but didn't think to shoot the hanging baskets. Both are available for adoption. The baskets cost $100 for the season and the corner gardens vary by location and size. I read somewhere that their cost ranges from $150-250 for the season. All have a small plaque where the donor can take personal credit or memorialize someone else.
Sizes vary but most are about ten feet long and three to four feet wide at the widest spot. Plantings also vary, as you can see.
Getting ready to head for the airport so need to shut down the laptop. Next post will be from Athens. See you there!
