We stopped at a Lao Hmong village. Here they also build elevated houses. I couldn't resist this shot with its contrast of old buildings and satellite dish.

We fell short of our goal so spent the night here in Phoulao. These hand carved chairs greeted us in the entrance to our guesthouse.
Dinner at a nearby restaurant included sticky rice served in these baskets.
Back at the guesthouse in this small town our accommodations included one double bed for two of us, no air conditioning, no WiFi and a pretty basic bathroom.
Note the lack of tank on the toilet. To flush you dump in water from the tub on the floor. There is a shower but no hot water and the water is brown with sediment from the river. Oh yes, no sink either.
