Junbesi to Rinmo

Tuesday, May 15th  8,487 feet

On the trail at 0830. Down to the river and then up and up. This section of the trail has been recently rebuilt. The mule trains tear up the trail, so this section was a refreshing change.

Last night I became disillusioned with the WiFi. Tried many times but no service. Hope to catch up with blog postings soon.
The trail today continued up steadily but with regular gentler places so it was a remarkable walk. Hillside traverses revealed grand vistas of sidehill farms spanning a thousand vertical feet or more, all accessed by foot trails.
The easier pace allowed me to take photos of the flowers along the way. I'll post some of them in a separate entry.
Meanwhile, we crossed a babbling brook on a sturdy stone bridge.

Russ and Mike giving the area's big trees some scale.

We observed a sheep shearing operation.

Our trail narrowed at times with a pretty steep drop of a thousand feet one misstep away.

This trail was just wide enough for whatever made the cowpies. On the right was a long drop to the river.

Five colors on the vertical prayer flags.
We stopped for lunch at a place Ramesh knew. Since they were closed, Ramesh made lunch for us.

The grandmother had been working the wheat and stopped while we were there

First course was popcorn, followed by noodles with greens.

This Sherpa woman's hat was on display.
